<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">DONG Energy and (historically) Scottish Power Renewables (SPR) required specialist services to provide sufficient wave data to inform design, construction and operations phases for the West of Duddon Sands (WoDS) Offshore Windfarm, which is situated approximately 7.5 to 12 NM off the Isle of Walney, Cumbria. After the initial five years of measurements, a key driver for the continuation of the work was the validation of the engineering designs of the turbine towers and monopile foundations under the in-situ wave environment. This study specifically collected wave time series data over a seven-year period (November 2009 to January 2017) using a Datawell MkIII Directional Waverider (DWR) buoy sited ca. 8 NM from shore within the area of the WoDS windfarm. After undergoing automated QA procedures, the near-real time telemetry data were then made available to SPR and DONG Energy via a private FTP site. The full dataset provides DONG Energy and SPR with a better understanding of the inter-annual variability of the wave climate within the WoDS windfarm.</dc:description>
