<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Data on the numbers and distribution of waterbirds and seabirds in UK inshore waters are required for a variety of purposes, including for monitoring waterbird numbers and distribution and identification of Special Protection Areas (SPAs). It is also required for Environmental Statements for Round 1 Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) proposals and Strategic Environmental Assessments for Round 2 OWF development.
The objective of this project was to undertake four aerial surveys of waterbirds and seabirds in inshore waters in an area of the Outer Wash approximately bounded to the west by Skegness, to the north by Mablethorpe, to the east by Wells-Next-the-Sea and to the south by the Norfolk coastline. This area was included in an aerial survey flying block identified as ‘GW4’. The first survey was to take place in November 2007, the second in December 2007, the third in February 2008 and the fourth in March 2008.</dc:description>
