<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">An assessment of the fish and shellfish stocks in the eastern Irish Sea. The report was prepared as a desk study which drew on information provided by the DEFRA, FSU, CEFAS, advice from NWNW SFC, published literature and the internet. Environmental Statement Appendix 7.

The findings determined that while wind farm construction activities can cause localized, short-term disturbances or habitat alterations, their overall impact is minor and mitigable, particularly with appropriate scheduling and habitat management; some operational structures may even enhance local benthic biodiversity. However, long-term declines in key finfish and migratory species persist due to fishing pressures and broader ecosystem changes, necessitating continued conservation, targeted monitoring and adherence to regulatory frameworks like the Common Fisheries Policy. The studies emphasize the negligible cumulative seabed loss from development, the importance of clear scientific terminology for management, and recommend ongoing environmental monitoring, site-specific assessments, and adaptive management to mitigate ecological impacts and promote sustainable fisheries.</dc:description>
