<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Emu Ltd. were commissioned by the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA),
under management by Halcrow Group Ltd., to supervise a baseline benthic ecology survey at
the Wave Hub deployment site and associated sub-sea export cable. The survey was
undertaken to meet Wave Hub’s pre-construction obligations under the Food & Environmental
Protection Act (FEPA) (1985), to acquire information as part of a wider survey campaign, and
to make suggestions to establish a programme of environmental monitoring. An interim
survey report was presented in June 2010 outlining field data acquisition methods used during
the Wave Hub survey together with preliminary field observations derived from grab sampling
and seabed video.

The purpose of the survey was to build on previous data acquired and reported on by Fugro
Survey Ltd, undertaken in October 2005, and a repeat survey with revisions by Precision
Marine Survey Ltd in May 2006. The initial Fugro survey was a more extensive analysis of the
area than either of the subsequent surveys, incorporating 30 grab stations for faunal analysis,
Particle Size Distribution (PSD), Total Organic Carbon Analysis (TOC), 18 video transects
analysed for the application of biotope codes and 20 beam trawls.</dc:description>
