The wind farm has been divided into two development phases: phase 1 (Eastern development area) and Phase 2 (Western development area). A geophysical survey was carried out by Osiris Projects between May and September 2010 covering both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 development areas. The geophysical survey was utilised in the development of a geotechnical borehole location rational based on the identification of preliminary lithological boundaries, as presented in Senergy’s Preliminary Site Evaluation report. As part of the development process MORL commissioned a reconnaissance geotechnical survey for the Phase 1 area. The geotechnical survey was undertaken between 2nd November and the 14th December 2010 by Fugro GeoConsulting Limited under the supervision of Cathie Associates. The survey comprised the advance of twenty five exploratory geotechnical boreholes across the Phase 1 area including six re-drills. Samples recovered as part of the survey were tested in the Fugro Geotechnical laboratory (Wallingford) in order to undertake a geotechnical appraisal of materials encountered beneath the Phase 1 area of the wind farm development site.
