<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This project involves installing a 1/4 scale Evopod device rated at 35kW for experimental purposes. The unit will be fitted with a 4.5m diameter four bladed un-ducted turbine. The unit will be connected to a midwater buoy that will be moored in location by a four line chain/wire catenary mooring system. The moorings will terminate at clump weight anchors. The power from Evopod will be exported to the shore along a seabed cable of approximately 50mm diameter. The unit will be operated continuously over a period of up to 7 years.
Employing a systematic approach to impact assessment provides a simple method of identifying all the potential sources of risk to the environment. Where location of the projects is known and the type of development likely to be undertaken it is understood a high-level impacts assessment can prove a useful tool to input into final stage and introduce mitigation measures at an early stage.</dc:description>
