<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The information in this document is based on baseline survey data collected in Sanda Sound, initially presented in document number ODL-P10-003-E4011, according to the methodology laid out in A-30488-S00-TECH-001. These documents stand in support of Oceanflow Development Ltd.’s application for a marine license to deploy and Evopod floating tidal turbine platform in Sanda Sound, Argyll & Bute.

The following document sets out a methodology for monitoring seabirds and cetaceans using the waters in Sanda Sound, around the proposed deployment site of a ¼ scale Oceanflow Evopod device. Evopod is a semi submerged, floating, tethered tidal energy capture device. Monitoring will take place from March 2011 to July 2011; the methodology will allow the numbers and distribution of seabirds and cetaceans using the waters within a 1000m buffer surrounding the proposed deployment site to be characterised, along with their behaviour.

This document contains a description of Natura sites which may have ‘connectivity’ to Sanda Sound in terms of their migratory and breeding bird populations. This document also contains further analysis of survey data that may be relevant to the process of Habitat Regulations Appraisal in relation to Oceanflow’s proposed engineering demonstration tidal turbine project in Sanda Sound.

Oceanflow have followed the methodology outlined in section 3 of A-30488-S00-TECH-001 to produce maps of species distribution and tables of animal behaviour recorded during our seabird survey, conducted during the period March-July 2011. We have also included some discussion of the results with regard to the possible impacts on SPAs and SSSIs.</dc:description>
