<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">6 Alpha Associates (6 Alpha) has been commissioned by DONG Energy Ltd to provide an
unexploded ordnance (UXO) risk management within the Main Array and Export Cable
Route for the Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm (henceforth the “Study Site”).
The Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm is an extension to the existing Burbo Bank
Offshore Wind Farm. The Study Site is located west of the operational Wind Farm in
Liverpool Bay, 7 km north of the North Wirral coast near the village of Meols. The total area
occupied by the Study Site is approximately 40 km2 (four times the size of the existing
operational Site).
In support of Dong Energy, 6 Alpha have undertaken the following:
> Deliverable 1 – Detailed UXO Threat Assessment (delivered in March 2012) to
establish risk of encountering UXO on the Site and provide a suitable risk mitigation
strategy;
> Deliverable 2 – Sign off certificates (delivered throughout July and August 2012) to
mitigate the risk of geotechnical investigation within both the Main Array and Export
Cable Route, positions of which are located within Annex 01.
This document aims to provide an overarching report, in support of work formerly conducted.
The findings within this document were primarily based on the results from geophysical surveys
carried out within;
> Main Array Site - conducted by Gardline in 2010;
> Export Cable Route - conducted by Osiris Projects in 2012.</dc:description>
