<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Digital aerial surveys of seabirds and waterbirds in the Lynn and
Inner Dowsing (LID) wind farm area off the Lincolnshire and Norfolk Coasts were commissioned by
GLID TopCo Ltd in Winter 2011. HiDef Aerial Surveying Limited (HiDef) and Wildfowl and
Wetlands Trust (Consulting) Limited (WWT Consulting) undertook post-construction aerial bird
surveys in the LID wind farm area using HiDef’s digital recording system.Four surveys were conducted in mid to late winter (January to March) 2011. Surveys followed a series
of randomly assigned transects oriented east-west along Ordnance Survey (OS) grid lines, and spaced
2.5km apart over the main survey area and 1.25 km apart in a high interest region covering the waters
immediately around the LID wind farm footprint. Four high definition digital video cameras, attached
to the underside of an aircraft, recorded images along each transect, with each camera covering a 50m
wide strip. Images were scrutinised by experienced ornithologists from WWT Consulting to detect
and assign species and species groups to birds.</dc:description>
