<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Emu Limited was commissioned by Scira Offshore Energy Ltd to undertake a detailed unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey of the proposed Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm. The main objective of the survey was to map potential UXO in the windfarm area and a 30 m wide area along each of the export cable installation corridors. The survey equipment mobilised to complete these objectives included magnetometer, sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiling systems.

All magnetometer targets, identified through processing and interpreting of the combined datasets, were to be individually assessed and assigned with a UXO potential.

Background:
BACTEC completed a desktop study in 2004 and highlighted the site specific risk from sea mines, aircraft bombs and anti-aircraft munitions (shells). The conclusions were that:
• Sea mines presented a “medium risk”
• Aircraft bombs presented a “low risk”
• Anti aircraft munitions (shells) presented a “low risk”</dc:description>
