The North East (NE) Coast (of England) cod survey is a designated time-series
survey conducted since 2003 as part of the UK Fisheries Science Partnership
(FSP). The NE Coast cod surveys in 2003 and 2004 were largely exploratory,
examining factors such as the effect of gear type and time of day on catch
rates of cod and other species. The objective of the survey series is to
provide year-on-year comparative information on distribution, relative
abundance and size/age composition of NE coast cod and whiting. The surveys
also provide data on catches of other species important to the NE coast
fishery, including haddock.
