    "description": "The Western Core Box dataset comprises measurements of physical oceanographic parameters and complementary meteorological data collected as part of the British Antarctic Survey Long Term and Monitoring Survey Program. Data collection covers the sea area around South Georgia Island and spans from 2006 to the present day. Data collection has a roughly annual frequency and is done through hydrographic surveys with a Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) and via the ships' underway monitoring system. Measurements include water temperature, conductivity, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), transmittance, fluorescence and oxygen concentrations, as well as air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, total incidence radiation (TIR), wind speed and direction. The Western Core Box survey has been implemented to measure the change and variability in the Earth system and monitoring of long-term processes. It also provides valuable information on the status of the marine ecosystem in this area. All data are collected by the British Antarctic Survey. The data are subject to a two year organisational moratorium from collection after which they become publicaly available.",
