"name": "Intertidal Monitoring of Rockpools, Caves and Overhangs in Carmarthen Bay and Estuaries Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in 2007",
"description": "The Habitats Directive establishes that the management of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) should aim to achieve the favourable conservation status of habitat and species features listed within its Annex I and Annex II. For SACs in Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) was therefore required to report on a regular basis on whether features were in favourable conservation status. \r\n\r\nThere were two purposes for this data capture: \r\n\r\n- To provide an inventory and distribution map of selected biotopes present to use as a reference condition for the rocky shore habitat communities in the SAC. \r\n- To describe gross changes in these features since the Phase 1 survey (1999-2001) to give some indication of their stability. \r\n\r\nThe rocky shore areas that lies within the SAC includes a number of rockpool, overhang and cave features that are considered to be nationally important biotopes and/or Rare or Scarce in Wales and others that are considered to be important for their biodiversity. These potentially species rich rocky habitats were therefore surveyed to provide an inventory of these sub features for future survey work. \r\n\r\nThe confidence in this data is high as surveys were carried out by a team of experienced marine biologists.",
