    "description": "This survey was undertaken by Cefas as part of the Blackwater Herring Survey \r\n(FSS: INA K HER);\r\n\r\nA series of cruises carried out from 1989 to 2009 each November on the INA-K \r\nin the Thames Estuary. The aims of which were to assess the state of herring\r\n(*Clupea harengus*) stocks through measurements of length samples and by \r\nageing a stratified selection of fish. The latter was also to determine the \r\nstock split between North Sea and Thames fish as there is a great deal of \r\nmixing of stocks in the area. Stock identification was done by a combination \r\nof first year growth observed in the otolith and the maturity stage of the \r\nfish.\r\n\r\nSurvey took place between 06/11/2009 and 17/11/2009 on INA K\r\n\r\nEquipment used during this survey :\r\n\r\n\r\n- Larson Sprat Trawl\r\n\r\nSurvey operations were undertaken on 33 stations\r\n\r\n33 different species were caught on this survey",
