    "description": "The AquaSmart project aim was to identify potential areas of aquaculture \r\ndevelopment around the island of Penang, Malaysia for 5 different species; \r\nogonori seaweed (*Gracilaria lichenodes*), blood cockle (*Tegillarca \r\ngranosa*), slipper oyster (*Crassostrea iredalei*), tropical oyster (\r\n*Crassostrea belcheri*), and barramundi (*Lates calcarifer*). To achieve \r\nthis aquaculture suitability layers were generated that represent the areas \r\nthat have the best range of environmental conditions for these species when \r\ngrown under aquaculture (farming) conditions. These spatial data layers were \r\ngenerated in August 2024, and refined in September 2024 following comments \r\nfrom the 2nd AquaSmart workshop in Malaysia.\r\n\r\nThis data comprises the spatial data habitat suitability layers for the 5 \r\nspecies as GeoTiff raster data, along with a georeferenced layered pdf map \r\nwhich serves to enable non-specialist users to be able to understand the \r\nconflicts and potential area of aquaculture development in the region.",
