    "description": "This record relates to a substantial amount of hard copy herring data which is \r\nstored off site in the fisheries data archive. This archive contains hundreds \r\nof files, ledgers, log books, box files and large boxes containing data on:\r\n\r\n\u2022Biological data, including the age, length, weight, maturity and vertebrae \r\ncounts of individual herring\r\n\r\n\u2022Scale projection data, containing information on the length-at-age of the \r\nfish, derived from the growth layers on herring scales;\r\n\r\n\u2022Herring survey data, collected onboard research or commercial vessels during \r\nsurveys specifically aimed to study herring;\r\n\r\n\u2022Market sampling data, collected by scientists at the fishing ports where \r\nherring were traditionally landed, such as Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and South \r\nand North Shields\r\n\r\n\u2022Associated environmental data collected during the herring surveys, including \r\ndaily weather and wind observations\r\n\r\n\u2022Spatial information, including distribution of herring catches during \r\ndifferent years.",
