    "description": "These data are particle positions and dates/times which are output from an \r\nOceanParcels particle tracking model simulating likely pathways of floating \r\nmarine macro-litter in the Bay of Bengal between 1st June 208 \u2013 30th \r\nSeptember 2019, saved as NetCDF files. The model incorporated advection due to \r\nocean, wind, and Stokes drift velocities, horizontal diffusion, and particle \r\nbeaching behaviours. Two different hydrodynamic data sets were used to force \r\nthe particles\u2019 trajectories: a high-resolution ocean velocity hindcast (ROMS \u2013 \r\nRegional Oceanic Modelling System) and a lower-resolution dataset which \r\nincluded data assimilation (CMEMS - Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring \r\nService). Sensitivity tests were run to determine whether hourly or daily \r\nforcing resulted in significantly different particle end locations and \r\nvalidation simulations were run to compare with undrogued drifter tracks for \r\nthe same period and region. All model output is stored in NetCDF files. This \r\nis data to accompany a manuscript submitted to Ocean Science entitled \r\n\u2018Monsoonal influence on floating marine litter pathways in the Bay of Bengal\u2019 \r\n(Preprint: `EGUsphere - Monsoonal influence on floating marine litter \r\npathways in the Bay of Bengal`_).
