The survey was undertaken by an outposted MNCR team based at the Dove marine Laboratory, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Tyne and Wear. The coast between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Beadnell, including the Farne Islands, was subject of a previous MNCR survey (Conner 1989). Data from this earlier survey has been incorporated into that gathered 1992 to provide a more complete account of the range of biotopes present along the Northumberland coast. Sabellaria spinulosa and Sabellaria alveolata presence records are given from the survey of Eyemouth (Berwickshire) to Alnmouth (Northumberland). Photographs of habitats, communities and species were taken at most sites to provide a permanent record of the area. This survey was collated by MarLIN as part of a data collation contract for species on the provisional list of nationally important marine features (Lieberknecht et al. 2004).",
