    "description": "The ground report in this series describes the findings of a ground investigation carried out by Fugro Seacore\r\nLimited (FSCL) on the instructions and under the supervision of DONG Energy Power (UK) Ltd,\r\nat the West of Duddon Sands offshore windfarm site, located in the Irish Sea off the west coast of\r\nEngland.\r\nThe West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm comprises one hundred and thirty-nine wind\r\nturbines and two substations. The foundations may be Mono piles or Suction Bucket\r\nFoundations (SBF) for the wind turbines, whereas the use of jacket pile structures is anticipated\r\nfor the sub-stations\r\nThe purpose of this investigation was to provide sufficient data on the ground conditions to enable\r\nthe detailed design of wind turbine and substation foundations.\r\nThe scope of the ground investigation comprised:\r\n\u00b7 thirty cable percussion boreholes extended by rotary open hole and rotary cored\r\nboreholes, to a maximum depth of 68.40m bsb.\r\n\u00b7 Downhole seismic logging and high pressure dilatometer testing\r\n\u00b7 Nine boreholes advanced using rotary open hole techniques with continuous downhole\r\nCone Penetration Tests.\r\n\u00b7 Offshore Geotechnical laboratory testing\r\n\u00b7 Onshore Geotechnical laboratory testing\r\nThe site work was undertaken between 4th June 2010 and 11th August 2010.",
