These surveys were collected over a period of 24 months between October 2009 and September 2011.\r\n\r\nFor the mammal assessment, the report uses a combination of a desk study of literature and available data sources, and an analysis of the baseline data collected during the two years of boat- and shore-based surveys in the Inner Sound to assess marine mammal distribution, abundance, seasonality and behaviour within the Inner Sound and wider Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters.
