    "description": "The boat survey methodology involves a band transect, operated ahead of the ship and to both sides, recording all birds on the water within the transect and taking \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcsnapshot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 counts of birds in flight. During the surveys each surveyor scans the water across 90\u00c2\u00ba on his/her side of the boat. All birds on the water are recorded throughout the survey time, with each transect focusing on birds under 300m away from the vessel. Each observation is allocated to one of four distance bands measured perpendicular to the transect line. During periods of lower bird activity, secondary records of birds over 300m away should be noted. The five distance bands (four under 300m plus one over 300m away from the survey vessel) are: A. 0 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 50m B. 50 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 100m C. 100 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 200m D. 200 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 300m E. >300m",
