    "description": "The reviewed series of studies were primarily conducted in the UK between 2002 and July 2005 to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from offshore wind farm subsea power cables on electrically and magnetically sensitive marine species, especially elasmobranchs. It involved range of methodologies including literature reviews, technical and cost analyses, environmental monitoring, empirical laboratory studies, consultation with industry and experts, technical and environmental data requests to developers, and conference participation.\r\n\r\nThe series found that while some marine species can detect weak EMFs and may alter their behaviour in proximity to anthropogenic sources, there is currently no conclusive evidence of significant ecological harm attributable to EMFs from offshore wind farms, especially with mitigation strategies such as cable burial and shielding. However, substantial knowledge gaps remain regarding the sensitivity, ecological consequences, and cumulative impacts on key species, and inconsistencies were noted in environmental statements and monitoring protocols.",
