The purpose was to study the type and location of sediments, and their their geological history. The survey used a Atlas Deso 20 echo sounder, an EG&G Model 240 sub-tow boomer, and a EG&G 260 side-scan sonar. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS Report WB86/53C. Study area report WB/88/9C.",
