This sampling and geophysical survey has been carried out by, contractors for Department of Trade and industry Strategic Environmental Assessment project (SEA4), the survey took place from July to August 2002 in the Faeroe-Shetland Channel on board the RV Kommandor Jack. The purpose was to collect data as part of an Environmental Assessment project. Sea floor data were collected using EM120 multibeam and backscatter data. Sample data were collected using Megacorer, box corer, gravity corer and Day grab. These data were recorded digitally and are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in SEAS reports, http://webservices.bgs.ac.uk/sea/documents/57, http://webservices.bgs.ac.uk/sea/documents/77. http://webservices.bgs.ac.uk/sea/search.

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Sample equipment types used included: Corer, Corer: Sediment Gravity and Grab. Offshore Survey and Engineering was contracted to undertake the survey on behalf of Department of Trade and Industry. For more detailed information on the acquisition equipment and data collection techniques, operational standards, data processing methods and quality control procedures used on this survey see the Report of Survey/Cruise Report and associated documentation where available. The information available may vary depending on the age of the survey. Data are checked and loaded to the BGS Coastal and Marine data management system following BGS marine data management procedures. |
