Use of the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) as a basis for community definition in the saltmarsh habitats of Burry Inlet and Loughor Estuary. The area comprises the most extensive site of saltmarsh vegetation in Wales. The purpose of this data capture is to provide detailed information on the distribution of the key elements for which the estuary was submitted for selection as a candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) including the extent of transitional zones, extent of saltmarsh communities and the distribution of the nationally scarce and locally distributed Marsh Mallow, Althaea officinalis. Another aim of the survey was to provide floristic data to enable the separation of the Mediterranean Saltmeadows from their more generally distributed counterparts.

Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Saltmarsh Features at Burry Inlet and Loughor Estuary (1998) |
Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Nodweddion morfa heli Porth Tywyn ac Aber Afon Llwchwr |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 4f4c4942-4343-5764-6473-313039383739 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 109879 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1998-09-10 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1998-10-01 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Standard NVC survey methodology. Data collected by trained personnel, digitised by contractors, validated by CCW KMG, corrections made by contractors, validated again by CCW KMG, corrections made in-house in conjunction with relevant salt marsh specialist. CCW commissioned survey which contributes to an NVC Saltmarsh survey collation (see 'part of' field). |
