The exact location of sampling stations that occur at each of the Marine Monitoring Sites. The purpose of this data capture is to provide an overview of legacy Countryside Council for Wales' (CCW) Marine Monitoring sample stations to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and make these available to a wider audience through a central location. This will help facilitate a more coordinated approach to Marine Monitoring across the UK and promote the sharing of resources. Sample stations for a variety of monitoring programmes are available including: Benthic rock and sediment, intertidal rock and sediment, saline lagoons, scoter aerial monitoring, bottlenose dolphins, grey seals, shellfish (bird food) stocks, video and acoustic monitoring. At some locations this is the same as the Marine Monitoring Site location as listed in the separate metadata entry (Marine Monitoring Sites - GIS Dataset) for others it may be a series of samples stations within the sites and for others it may be a larger area that is surveyed remotely. The Marine Monitoring Sample locations are available online through UK Directory of Marine Observing Systems (UKDMOS). Included are the following legacy CCW Marine Monitoring programmes; - Intertidal Monitoring Surveys - Benthic Subtidal Sediment Monitoring Survey - Aerial scoter monitoring - Acoustic Seabed Monitoring of the North Llyn Modiolus reef - Benthic Rock Monitoring - Bottlenose Dolphin Monitoring - Shellfish Stock (bird food) Monitoring - Skomer Marine Nature Reserve Monitoring - Across Wales drop-down video monitoring - Saline lagoon soft sediment survey - Grey seal monitoring

There are no access restrictions to this data. NRW may release, publish or disseminate it freely. Sensitive feature data has been redacted prior to publishing on the UKDMOS website. This relates to grey seal pupping/nursery and moulting sites. UKDMOS will forward requests for this data to NRW.

Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Countryside Council for Wales' Marine Monitoring Sample Stations for UKDMOS |
Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | CCW Monitoring programmes |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 4f4c4942-4343-5764-6473-313130363838 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 110688 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2009-07-30 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-12-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | annually |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | All sample stations have been plotted from original waypoints recorded on survey, extracted from Marine Monitoring reports, extracted from Marine Recorder or created specifically for this project. This dataset is partially based on the legacy CCW Marine Monitoring Sites dataset. |
