Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 2617 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1983-1984 Lundy and Isles of Scilly sessile epifaunal survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 21b06586684e03d3edfcf55c940c527a |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRMLN0010000013F |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1983-01-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1984-12-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Species abundance data from monitoring surveys in the Isles of Scilly and Lundy. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | A marine monitoring programme was established in 1984 at the Lundy and Isles of Scilly proposed Marine Nature Reserves in southwest England to help determine their management requirements. The aim was to provide information on important marine habitats, long term changes in community structure and the life history (particularly longevity and growth rates) and ecology of species of high nature conservation interest. Point photography, the mapping of individuals on a known grid and growth measurements were employed to monitor changes in the populations and communities present. These methods enabled all individuals of selected species present in a specific area to be counted and changing colony size or population number calculated within a quadrat or at permanent sites from year to year. |
