All these records relate to "Smith (1995) - Lyme Bay Environmental Study Volume 8. Intertidal benthic ecology: Sand and mud shores" A copy of the report is held at Dorset Environmental Records Centre. This report forms part of the 'Lyme Bay Environmental Study' series. This volume reports on the macroinvertebrates of 8 selected estuaries and harbours in Lyme Bay (N.B. The 3 sites in Devon have not been entered on the Dorset database). Sampling was based upon that adopted by the National Rivers Authority. Four replicates were taken at each site. For each replicate, three closely spaced cores were taken to give a combined surface area of 0.01 square metre. The internal diameter of the corer was 6.5cm. Each core sample was taken to a depth of 15cm where possible. Samples were taken in the lower half of the shore (mean tidal level to mean low water neap zone). The survey was carried out from 8-10 August 1994, during a period of spring tides. Invertebrate core samples were sieved through a 0.5mm mesh. Specimens were identified to species level, where possible, and a reference collection created. Species numbers represent the total number counted in all the replicates.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3357 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1994 Ambios Environmental Consultants Ltd, Lyme Bay Dorset, Sand and mud shore coring survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 57695c339ec4af0397f869859acb2309 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRLRC00100000502 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1994-08-08 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1994-08-10 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
