Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3600 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1976 Scottish west coast Modiolus modiolus records |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 63b39741cda2e26049e9401ae091576a |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRMLN0020000000A |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1976-08-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1976-08-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Modiolus modiolus presence data from Port Appin Bay, Ardyne (Achavoulin Bay) and Firth of Lorne. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Population structure, seasonal biology and flesh content of Modiolus from three different subtidal habitats were studied (Port Appin Bay, Ardyne, Achavoulin Bay and Firth of Lorne). Modiolus occurs in a number of diverse habitats in the Scotish west coast sea lochs, extending from the lower shore to depths of 150 m (Allen 1962, Tebble 1966). Ardyne densities were measured at each 3 m depth interval by counting the numbers of Modiolus present in ten 1 m2 quadrats. Samples were collected by SCUBA divers. Whenever possible collections were made from Ardyne during the third week of each month. All collections should have been random, but as none of the Modiolus beds was very extensive it was necessary to conserve stocks. Only data from 1 site is held in DASSH. |
Additional information | This describes relevant references to the data e.g. reports, articles, websites plus other useful information not captured elsewhere. | Comely (1978) Modiolus modiolus (L.) from the Scottish west coast. I. Biology |
