The intertidal strandline survey aims to record marine life within the intertidal envrionments. This survey is conducted within the intertidal environments of Alderney, Channel Islands. The rationale of the survey is to a) record marine life on Alderney and b) engage local residents on the marine environment.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3693 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2015 Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) intertidal strandline survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 6d88a6ee20fe1f4a0a1462ad6022005a |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | DASSHDT00000085 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2015-01-21 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2015-01-21 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | unknown |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Species were identified during the survey by three ecologists using species guide books and recording material from Dorset Wildlife Trust. Shark egg records were submitted to the Shark Trust for verification. During DASSH internal QC station and sample event locations were adjusted to more closely fit location descriptions, entry in original coordinates field are unchanged. If any sensitive species or biotope records are present within this dataset, they will have been removed. If you wish to request access to sensitive species records, please contact the metadata contact. The UK Sensitive Species list has been agreed by UK statutory bodies and relevant experts. It can be viewed here https://docs.nbnatlas.org/sensitive-species-list/. Please note sensitive species lists can vary across the UK. |
