Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3881 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1743-2010 National Marine Aquarium (NMA) United Kingdom Marine Fish Recording Scheme |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 7945744dc5fb1e7de5b6fdb485270bf5 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | DASSHDT00000002 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1743-01-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-12-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Volunteer marine fish records from a wide variety of sources including dive sightings, fishermen's records, anglers etc. as well as historical records collated from other sources such as museum specimens and marine faunas from 1800 - 2010. Records are from around the United Kingdom and some further reaching locations submitted to and collected by The National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth. Please Note: There is one record in the database from 1743. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | All records are collected on a standard paper form, from volunteer recorders. Records are entered from a wide variety of sources including dive sightings, fishermen's records, anglers etc. These records cover all UK waters and some further reaching locations have also been included, though only very rarely. All records are returned to the National Marine Aquarium for entry into the database. Records may be duplicated across other recording schemes. Please be aware that due to the vague nature of location recording, any records will need to be checked against other same species records with similar dates and locations from other schemes. |
