Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1995 Ironotter Point Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) Benthos Survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 9eee0294a4373261d07e24d17ea81a74 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRMLN00100000046 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1995-05-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1995-05-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Benthic marine species abundance data from environmental survey monitoring sewage discharge. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Abstract: The third survey within a 1km radius of the sewage discharge from Battery Park sewage treatment works, Greenock. 28 stations were sampled using a 0.1m2 Day grab, depths ranged from 20-30m. Faunal samples were sieved on a 0.5mm sieve and identification was to species level where possible. The survey results were analysed and community measures, enrichments indicator species and environmental quality standard ratios were produced. The Multivariate analysis that was carried out produced Bray Curtis similarity dendrograms and Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) ordination plots, which identified 6 major groups with faunal similarities Faunal diversity remained high, however, a decline in trophic index values suggested the community structure was changing. The apperance of Ophryotrocha hartmanni close to the outfall was indicative of organic enrichment. Purpose: Monitoring of sewage discharge from Battery Park Sewage Works, Greenock. Third survey. Other surveys undertaken in 1989, 1992 and 1998. |
