Marine Map Tech (MMT) has been conducting a geophysical and 3D UHRS (Ultra High Resolution Seismic) survey in the central North Sea for the Dogger Bank project. The aim of project was to provide sufficient geophysical data with interpretation to enable a site specific geotechnical design planning for WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) and substation for offshore windfarm development. Acquired geophysical data from this survey will be integrated with the existing geological model and geotechnical data for input to planning of the area layout. The goal was to define the lateral and vertical variations in stratigraphy, particularly sand layer distribution within the top 10 to 15 m below seafloor and between 25 and 40 m below seafloor, at the intended WTG and substation locations. The survey was conducted in the areas Dogger Bank B (DBB) and C (DBC) that lies within the Dogger Bank area in the North Sea. Horisontal datum WGS 84 and projection UTM 30 N, EPSG: 32630.

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Initially the plan was to run with dual head R2Sonic which would cover a 25 m corridor over the aslaid cable routes and collect water column data. After testing the client agreed to remove the water column logging from the scope of work due to 1 GB a minute files which caused acquisition software to crash. MBES data was collected the majority of the time with one head due to non-functioning equipment. Swath width had to be maximised and monitored at all times to get 12.5m coverage on one side of the cable route. Due to only operating with one MBES head this would require having to collect data when the cable tracking was performed. The cable tracking required lower flying altitude which meant a smaller swath. The angles of the sonar were maximised at all times to meet density requirements and coverage. The ping rate was limited to 15hz to achieve the required density and saved space on the server. Survey Speed (Kn) 0.75 รข?? 1.5. FREQ(KHz) 400-450. Beam Spacing HD EQDST. Detection Mode Normal. Coverage (deg) 75/10. Coverage (m) 15/15. Ping Rate (HZ) 15. |
