The introduction of Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 means the Scottish Government now has the authority to introduce statutory marine planning for Scotland's seas. A National Marine Plan will manage increasing demands for the use of our marine environment, encourage economic development of marine industries and incorporate environmental protection into marine decision making. It will also have a role to play in managing adaptation to climate change. The National Marine Plan Interactive/NMPi is one of the supporting systems where data is continuously added to support the National Marine Plan

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5945 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | National Marine Plan Interactive |
Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | NMPi |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | Marine_Scotland_FishDAC_1010 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | Marine_Scotland_FishDAC_1010 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-01-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2016-11-07 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | 55000.00 |
Spatial resolution unit | This describes the unit of spatial resolution which for distance must be metres. | http://standards.iso.org/ittf/PubliclyAvailableStandards/ISO_19139_Schemas/resources/uom/gmxUom.xml#m |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | unknown |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | The introduction of Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 means the Scottish Government now has the authority to introduce statutory marine planning for Scotland's seas. Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | NMPi is a publically available interactive mapping system. The tool allows you to view different types of information and where appropriate, links have been provided to the related parts of Scotland's Marine Atlas where the information is discussed in more detail. Links will also be provided to the draft National Marine Plan - the initial stage of the National Marine Plan process. National Marine Plan interactive (NMPi) is evolving all the time - it is "work in progress" not a static system. Data sets are added to the interactive map when available. On the accompanying related pages (follow the (i) icon from a layer) new statistics and other details are added too. Note - each of the layers on NMPI (the service) hasit's own metadata record to described data contained within the given layer. |
