A site assessment, comprising a visualt inspection of the site from both above, and below water. Carried out by the Archaeological Diving Unit (ADU), it followed extensive salvage work on the site in 1985, during which over 600 items were recovered; along with 'the historically significant steam engine and... drive mechanism [which] was raised ans sold for scrap...' (ADU 93/14). The seabed inspection revealed that only a small portion of the hull plating was uncovered, while the rest was thought to still lie beneath a thick layer of sand (3-4m). The coordinates given for the site are derived from the RCAHMW record of the vessel, while the depth of 6m is given in the ADU report. The size of the survey area is not specified.
