Aerial bird survey conducted over the Ormonde wind farm and adjacent areas in order to fulfil conditions set out in the project Marine Licence (L/2011/00201/10). The survey work was scheduled to occur in December (2013) and January (2014). However, due to poor weather conditions, the survey was undertaken during January and February, 2014.

The surveys were performed using the high resolution image method. The aerial surveys were conducted on the 14th of January and the 28th of February 2014. Images were acquired along seven north-south oriented, parallel transects with a total length of 55 kilometres and a spacing of 2 kilometres off the west coast of England in the Irish Sea. All six transects were completed on both survey days. A Vexcel Ultracam XP camera, delivering images with a ground resolution of 3x3 cm, was used during both surveys. |
