Lincs Wind Farm Limited (the "customer") has approached DNV GL to discuss potential cable remedial works in the Lincs offshore wind farm ("Lincs") which are planned to be carried out in 2015. Lincs has been in commercial operation since September 2013, The main method of protection for the array and export cables was burial, but some cable sections did not achieve the targeted burial depth. The Customer would like to reassess the risks to the cables and the most suitable methods of additional protection, if any, and asked DNV GL to outline a methodology for this based on the published DNV pipeline standards and recommended practices. DNV GL extracted methodologies from DNV GL pipeline standards and recommended practices in order to develop a coherent approach which enables quantitative assessment of risks to specific cable sections.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 7393 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2014, DNV GL, Lincs Offshore Wind Farm, Cable Protection Assessment |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | a5eb4ecd-5f21-4a06-aaf4-e1773a0c071b |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | LN 2013 RPS BoatBased Construction Phase Ornithology |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2014 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2014 |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The objective of the hazard identification and assessment is to perform a high level review of the conditions at the Lincs site and an assessment of relevant cable failure modes, resulting in a generic overview of hazards and their overall risk. Assessment of the level of protection can be carried out in a systematic way such as outlined in DNV-RP-F107 /24/. |
