The primary aim of this project was to monitor the impact of the proposed wind farm upon little terns, although impacts on other species (38 species) have been recorded during the study. The surveys carried out prior to construction were to form a baseline against future change with the presence of the wind farm. The work was divided into the following areas: feeding studies, breeding colony studies, prey studies and bird strike studies. Little Terns have not bred in numbers at North Denes which has hampered the construction of a baseline to compare against future change. In general terms it will not be known how the construction of the wind farm will impact the populations of little terns until the wind farm has been built.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 7593 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2002-2006, ECON, Scroby Sands Offshore Wind Farm, Ornithological Monitoring, Assessing the potential impact of the proposed wind farm upon Little Tern (Sterna albifrons) |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | c5858e6acae44c4693a9e54b71fbf8c9 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 2081 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2002 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2006 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
