The main objective of this project is to provide a framework for prediction of recoverability of biodiversity and community structure of marine benthos following cessation of dredging. This project aims to predict the rate of recovery of species diversity, population density and biomass for different deposit types at sites where dredging has ceased. This enables the prediction of the long-term risk to marine biodiversity posed by marine aggregate dredging in different habitat types. It also allows prediction of the sequence and timing of recovery processes based on the species inventory and life-styles of the community prior to dredging.
