Selected maritime sites on the Llyn Peninsula were surveyed, mapped and evaluated in September/October 2000 and the range of National Vegetation Classification (NVC) vegetation types present characterized. A number of sections of the UK coastline have been nominated as 'Vegetated Sea Cliffs of the Atlantic and Baltic Coasts' candidate Special Areas of Conservation under the EC Habitats Directive. This survey was undertaken as part of the former Countryside Council for Wales (CCWs) commitment to undertake research and survey in order to increase knowledge of the extent and quality of this resource. Soil information, grazing records and additional factors relating to disturbance were also recorded. Mapping in the field was carried out on 1:2500 computer-generated maps.
