Data come from multiple repositories (e.g. Marine Data Exchange: `https://www.marinedataexchange.co.uk/`_, UK Benthos: `https://oguk.org.uk/product/ukbenthos-database-5-14/`_, Eurobis: `https://www.eurobis.org/`_, JNCC's Marine Recorder) and organisations, both in industry (e.g. Marine Aggregates, Offshore renewables, Oil & Gas, Ports & Harbours, Cables) and government (e.g. Cefas, Defra, Environment Agency, JNCC, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Marine Scotland, Nature Scotland, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Environment Northern Ireland). The dataset includes data from multiple countries including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, France, Germany and Russia. Only data deemed to be comparable have been incorporated into the dataset (i.e. collected and processed in a similar way). Clearly, users of the data will need to make their own judgements concerning appropriate use of the data. As new data are continually being added to the dataset, users are directed to the OneBenthic dashboard (`https://openscience.cefas.co.uk/obdash/`_) for more information.
