Bulk sediment samples were collected from the Creeksea estuary (south east coast of the UK) in October 1998. The csv file entitled "nematodes_creeksea_field_samples_1998" contains data from these field-collected sediments, while while the csv entitled "nematodes_lab_experiemnts_creeksea_1998" contains data from experimental treatments sumulating the deposition of dredged material. Please see the Read Me file for a description of the contions within the laboratory experimental microcosms. Data detailing sediment granulometry and trace metal concentrations of the bulk sediment is also available. The keys used to identify the species of nematodes present were Platt & Warwick (1983, 1988) and Warwick et al. (1998), The experiementald data are the result of a laboratory experiment, designed to investigate the effects of the degree of contamination and the role of burial associated with the deposition of dredged material on meiobenthic nematode Estuarine nematode assemblages were exposed to the simulated deposition of uncontaminated, oxic intertidal mud and anoxic sediments from the Mersey and the Tees estuaries, both of which were contaminated with heavy metals.
