Sites of special interest (SSSI) and Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs) were merged. RAMSAR (a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention) and SAC were identical to the SSSIs, hence excluded from the MPA data layer construction. The MPAs used can be downloaded from `www.data.gov.uk`_ and they are distributed under the Open Government Licence.
