Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP) analysis by liquid chromatography (LC) with ultraviolet detection (LC-UV). Lipophilic toxins (LT) analysis by LC with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Paralytic Shellfish Toxins (PST) analysis by LC-MS/MS. The LC-MS/MS method for PST was formally validated and published for crab matrix and bivalve shellfish. The LT and ASP methods were only validated for bivalve shellfish. Caveats therefore relate to the use of an unknown method performance for ASP and LT toxins, due to lack of formal method validation.
