Standard tows, two nautical miles in length were made from the RV Roagan at sites on each of the 13 commercial scallop fishing grounds. A gang of four "Newhaven" type (spring-toothed) scallop dredges (individual width 0.76 m) were used, as adapted for for commercial queen scallop fishing, with short teeth (76 mm) and small belly rings (57 mm). Fauna collected was sorted to species level, counted and wet-weighted on board. Additional physical data were recorded at the time of sampling including water depth from the echosounder, E1 and E2 values, generated by RoxAnn, which reflected ground roughness and hardness, respectively.
