The aim of this survey was to improve knowledge of the occurrence and distribution of species and habitats of recognized conservation importance through the analysis of seabed video and still photographic imagery collected at 7 stations within the designated site. This survey was conducted from the MRV Alba na Mara cruise 1414A. Video images for this survey were obtained from DDV drifts at 7 stations. Track and depth data were displayed on the video overlay system. These images were used to describe the nature of the seabed in terms of the physical structure and the species assemblages. Species present were identified and quantified using the semi-quantitative MNCR SACFOR scale. Based on the physical and biological attributes, biotopes were allocated. Runs traversing a sequence of biotopes were split into corresponding segments; with the transition points recorded using the time, position and depth. Segmentation of runs was not practicable in the case of mosaics of recurring biotopes, in this case all biotopes observed are listed.
