The area covered by the search was from Groyne Point on the north side and a small headland just seaward of Tremayne Quay on the south side, up as far as the mouth of the estuary at Rosemullion Head and nare Point. Between these boundaries only one site was not searched, namely from Dennis Head to The Gew, as this area consisted of very steep cliffs - inaccessible other than by boat. It was not thought necessary to investigate the shores upstream of Groyne Point due to their distance from the main oyster beds in and around Porth Navas. Species (namely Ostrea edulis, Crassostera gigas/angulata, Calyptrea chinensis, and Crepidula fornicata) were found in 6 locations, and transects were conducted to map their distribution.
