In September 1993, the Archaeological Diving Unit (ADU) 'visited the site of a gun find made by a local retired commercial diver. No other archaeological material which might be contemporary with the gun was observed' (ADU 93/24) and it was thought that perhaps it had been used as a seabed weight, which could explained the isolation of the find.
