In April 2007 a literature review was conducted to identify and assess the available physical and biological data for the areas of Lizard Point. All the information gathered from the literature review was stored in a metadata table developed under the Mapping European Seabed Habitats (MESH) programme. More recent data was gathered for this dataset using acoustic surveys. A total of 180km of acoustic survey lines (sidescan sonar and multibeam bathymetry) were run at the Lizard Point site. Digital video and stills data were collected at 18 sites and a single scallop dredge site was also sampled. Formerly called "2008 CEFAS, The Lizard Point. Offshore special area of conservation."
