Previoiusly unsurveyed areas near Greatwood Quay and around Penarrow Point (west side of the Fal) and between Turnaware Point and Messack Point (east side of Fal ) were considered at Phase 2 level. Information was recorded as site descriptions, sketch maps and profiles with reference to 1:10000 maps and aerial photos as necessary. Surveyors then walked the shore noting any lateral variation and carrying out further transects where necessary. Where there were obvious changes in the shore habitats new site records were made.2 sites were surveyed as per MNCR protocol using MNCR survey forms. Of the more inaccessible (mainly rocky) shores were reached by boat and adjoining sections surveyed from the boat. Sediment shores 0.5mm sieves were used where necessary to help characterise the biotopes present.
